Social Justice led offering Trauma Informed Care
My name is Lila. I am so thankful to be here with you. My doula services are deeply rooted in social justice advocacy and a commitment to equity in maternal and reproductive care. I approach birth work with an understanding of the systemic barriers and disparities that women and birthing people of color continue to face, and I center my practice on empowerment, informed choice, and culturally responsive support. As I pursue my Master of Social Work (MSW), I am further strengthening my ability to advocate effectively—both within and beyond the birth space—by integrating clinical knowledge, policy awareness, and community-based advocacy into my care. This education enhances my capacity to support women of color holistically, addressing not only their birth experiences but also the broader social, emotional, and structural factors that impact their well-being.
My services
Birth Doula Services
My birth doula services are designed to provide continuous, compassionate, and advocacy-centered support throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. I work closely with you to help you feel informed, confident, and empowered in your choices. This includes prenatal education and birth planning, emotional reassurance, comfort measures during labor, and clear communication support within medical settings. I am committed to centering the voices of women and birthing people of color, advocating for respectful, culturally responsive care, and ensuring you feel heard and supported every step of the way.
Postpartum Doula Services
Postpartum care is an essential part of the birthing journey, and my services focus on nurturing both the parent and the family during this critical transition. I offer emotional support, newborn education, assistance with infant feeding, and guidance as you adjust to life after birth. With a trauma-informed and culturally grounded approach, I help create a supportive environment where you can rest, recover, and build confidence in your new role, while also addressing the emotional and mental health needs that are often overlooked in postpartum care—especially for women of color.
Resource Connection & Advocacy
Beyond hands-on doula support, I help connect clients to community resources, healthcare providers, and support networks that align with their needs and values. Drawing from my background in social justice advocacy and my ongoing MSW training, I assist with navigating healthcare systems, accessing mental health and social services, and identifying culturally competent providers. My goal is to ensure you are supported not only during birth and postpartum, but also through sustained access to resources that promote long-term wellness, stability, and empowerment.
Let’s get started on your healing journey
Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. The latter will take care of itself. It always does.
